What to Expect

massage therapy

Massage therapy sessions are directed at responding to the needs of the individual by using various traditional and contemporary massage techniques. Effleurage [smooth, gliding motion] and petrissage [kneading of the muscles] are two modes common in the field. However, there are many other approaches: hot stones, aromatic oils, restful music, compression, cross fiber friction, trigger point therapy.

You will be asked to fill out a medical history form. That will inform the therapist of any health care problems you may have. She will discuss with you what you may expect from the massage, and you should express any concerns you have. She will suggest what she thinks is the best approach for your situation.

You will be draped with a towel. Only the area being massaged will be uncovered.

Some people like to talk and some like to be quiet. Be sure to give feedback to the therapist about anything causing you discomfort.

Payment is due at the time of service unless other arrangements have been made before your appointment.

It is courteous to give 24 hour notice if you must cancel. You will be asked to pay in full if you miss your appointment without prior cancellation.
